  2. Stopping by in a round about way from SITS (from Mary RC really). Love your blog design and the snowman is so cute! I may be partial though because I collect them. :)

  3. I love the snowman candle holder!! I've tried painting on glass jars, but obviously haven't found the right varnish to hold the paint on.

  6. Effie - thanks. No, I've never made pillow case dolls, but I found one (and bought it of course!) at a yard sale. It was a vintage, embroidered pillowcase!!! Score! LOL

  10. LOL ... so did I first time!!!

One of the very last things my mother (who was a devout sew-er) made was a pillowcase doll for my littlest daughter for Christmas. She died the following February. She also did hand embroider on the dress. Mom said she had one when she was a little girl and couldn't stand the blank face, so she drew one in with a marker. To my horror, so did my daughter. Sometimes I'm amused because my very own mother did the same thing to her doll, but I'm still horrified to some extent because it was the last thing she made and now it's marked up. :( I guess that is part of my perfectionism? I wish to make another and put the dress on it that Mom embroidered. But then it wouldn't be "Mom's".

  11. Well, maybe the horror diminishes when you realize that your daughter did something your mother did as a young girl too. I think that's cool and that adds to the charm of the doll!
