Hippie Bag Purse Giveaway

I called this a "craft fail" because, to me, a "craft fail" is something that either didn't turn out like I envisioned (or in this case remembered), or just didn't go together right.  In the case of the latter, I'd just pitch it!

But, when it's usuable, but not what I liked, I'd give it away.  So, just so you know what you're getting, this falls into that category.

Back in home ec. class (am I dating myself here?  Do they still offer home economics?) We made these bags.  I remember the one I had.  It was a black velveteen with tiny flowers on it.  I loved that bag.  Of course, it was the 70's and fit in perfectly with the "hippie bag".  (if  "Home Ec" didn't date me, I did now).  I saved this pattern all these years and decided to do a re-do of it using some heavy upholstry fabric.

It's not the same as I remember (is anything ever?)  Besides, with all my "gadgets" I absolutely must have, it's not practical.  It would make a cool book bag though.  I thought I'd offer it to you, as a giveaway!

So now, knowing what you know, if it's something you would like, then leave a comment.   I will be drawing a lucky (at least I hope that's how you'll feel LOL) winner on May 21st.

You don't have to do anything but leave a comment!  That's it.  No hoops to jump through.  Of course, I always love new friends and if you'd like to follow this blog, I'd be thrilled, but it won't affect your chances.  Only do it because you like me...you really like me.   LOL

  1. I love not having to jump through hoops. Definitely I remember Home Ec and sewing. I remember we sewed gypsy style dresses and then had a fashion show for parents night...lol. Ahhh, good times. I think this would make a lovely book bag, so count me in!

  2. I love the purse, i have a few "different" purses i like to carry. I have a rooster pattern purse that has fur around top, so cute. Good conversation piece. My Aunt from Ga gave it too me that an elderly friend of hers made. I made myself a purse of jeans material, sorta like a dump purse. I enjoy showing off the different purses to people! Eve

  3. This would make a perfect book bag! Or maybe a "bring to the beach" bag? I can always use another bag :)

  4. I was just complaining the other day that schools no longer offer Home Ec. Not that I expect a school to teach my children all the domestic arts, but I do think it is a very valuable course. I took one year of Home Ec in high school, and it was great. (Boys took it, too!)

  5. I made a most pitiful throw pillow in home ec class. Haha!

  6. In home ec I made a horrible pair of shorts that were different lengths on each side! Now that I have a family though my interest in sewing has been renewed and I am trying much harder. :) Thank you for the chance.

  7. Hippie bags have become very stylish and normally they are Eco friendly. Giving one away is a great way to let another person enjoy it instead of discarding it.

  8. Wow. You are saying that you did not meet what you envisioned that is why will be discarding the hippie bag in the picture but you know it is beautiful and attractive to eyes. It is a better idea to sell it online than to stock it in your home and don't use it. Thanks for this post.
