Look what I got!
I went to an estate sale yesterday just because they mentioned vintage handkerchiefs. I'm a real sucker for linens...hankies, table linens, doilies, scarves...you name it, I love textiles! The lady said they were from 50-cents to $1.00 each, but as she was counting, I'm guessing she just got tired of counting, so she said "oh, just give me $5.00". Yes ma'am!!! I'm wishing now I'd just grabbed up the whole table full of hankies! (giggle)
So, after washing 'em all I put 'em in a basket. Cool, eh? I'm saving up a bunch to make a hankie quilt. I used to dress up paper dolls with them. If I can find a picture of one I used to do, I'll share.
I keep telling myself that's what I'll do, but I haven't been able to bring myself to actually commit to using the hankies that way! LOL
Anyway, just wanted to share my joy with you!
I love vintage hankies too! My grandma passed several on to me and I carried one at my wedding - it was so special. They look so pretty in the basket! Great find!
ReplyDeleteI love vintage hankies also. They are really pretty. Great find.

Oh gosh, Jeanette! I love vintage hankies too, and was collecting them at one time to make a hankie quilt. I had tons of hankies, but never made the quilt. I sold a lot of them at one of my garage sales...wish I had known you then, I would have given them to you! I did keep some - especially the ones with tatted edges - so perhaps I'll have to include one with your "special package" once I actually get it done! :o|

ReplyDeleteI love vintage hankies. My dear Aunt Ida always carried a hankie. I am fortunate to have several of her hankies.
ReplyDeleteOh wow you lucky girl!!! I would have had to do that "calm thing" where you act like, Oh okay.. then screamed that happy joyful scream once out of earshot. What a fantastic find. I love vintage hankies and doilies and have never gotten a deal like this one. Thanks for sharing.

Holly
